Dog groomers: how to get found when people ask AI for a groomer
It's Thursday night. A spaniel is matted, there's a family photo on Sunday, and the owner doesn't scroll Instagram looking for a groomer. They ask their phone instead.
Some customers now ask an AI assistant to find someone local (how that works). The assistant can only work with what it can read about your business, so the details you write down decide whether you're in the answer.
Questions owners might ask
- "Find a mobile dog groomer near me who can do a big dog on Saturday."
- "Who does a full groom for a nervous cockapoo, under 60?"
- "Is there a groomer that comes to the house near Riverside?"
Each one has a detail in it: a day, a budget, an area or a special need. The more of those you've written down, the easier you are to match.
What to write down
- Services, by dog size. "Full groom, small dogs" and "Full groom, large dogs" match more owners than "Full groom" on its own.
- A starting price. "From 35" is enough. An assistant asked for "under 60" is less likely to include a groomer with no price at all. Open and Found shows one starting price, so put any others in your services.
- Where you work. A salon address, or the areas you travel to. If you come to the house, say "mobile" in plain words.
- What makes you different. Nervous dogs, hand-scissoring, cage-free, cats too. These are the details owners ask about.
- Your usual days. Open and Found has no opening hours field yet, so add something like "Saturdays available" to your services.
A groomer's tip: say how you handle matting
Matted coats are one of the most common reasons owners look for a groomer in a hurry. If you charge extra for dematting, or shave out instead, say so up front. It saves you an awkward conversation and tells an owner with a matted dog that you're the right call.
